OIA Global Logistics
OIA was established in
1988 as Oregon International Airfreight Co. by founder Junki Yoshida
to ship fresh seafood and cherries from the Pacific Northwest to
Asia. As demand for its services grew, OIA quickly expanded its
customer base, its domestic office footprint and its expertise. Two
years later, OIA was engaged by a Fortune 500 sportswear
manufacturer to airship component parts to factories around the
world and continues to build this long-standing relationship. OIA
added ocean freight forwarding as a service and established a large
network of offices around the world to support its growing customer
base.
Several acquisitions in
2001 accelerated OIA’s reach into Hong Kong, Singapore, China and
the Phillipines. As Asian/U.S. trade continued to grow, OIA opened
new facilities in Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam while also
expanding its presence in China. In 2004, OIA established a
presence in Belgium to facilitate trade lanes into Europe. The
company then added sophisticated supply chain management systems and
started helping its global customers source product in Asia. In a
related move and upon the request of customers, OIA created a
world-class packaging division that designs and sources cardboard
boxes – for shoes boxes at first, then expanding into specialty
boxes for bicycle components, consumer electronics items and more.
In 2004, OIA was awarded
the prestigious “Top100 3PL” from Inbound Logistics as well
as “Top 100 Supply Chain Partner” from Global Logistics & Supply
Chain Strategies. In 2008, OIA launched a footwear distribution
operation in Portland providing turn-key contract warehousing and
product shipment/tracking capabilities.
