Andre B. Lacy is chairman of the board of LDI, Ltd., a Forbes-ranked holding company specializing in distribution. Under Lacy's leadership, the privately-held Indianapolis based company has grown in double digits for more than a decade. After graduating from Denison University in 1961 with a bachelor of arts in economics, Lacy began his career as an analyst at U.S. Corrugated-Fibre Box Company, the company from which LDI, Ltd. evolved. Lacy advanced through the corporate ranks and was named executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) of the box company in 1968. In 1972, he was named executive vice president and COO of Lacy Diversified Industries, the holding company that would become known as LDI, Ltd. He was elected CEO of LDI in 1983 and Chairman of the Board in 1992. Lacy retired as CEO on January 1, 2007. Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year program named Andre Lacy Indiana Master Entrepreneur of the Year in 1994. Governors Roger Branigan and Robert Orr recognized Lacy as a Sagamore of the Wabash. He received an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in 1985 and was inducted into the Central Indiana Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame in 2010. He is active on several corporate boards, including: Patterson Companies, Inc., in St. Paul, Minnesota (Lead Director), The National Bank of Indianapolis, Hulman & Company, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation and Herff Jones, Inc. in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also served at the chairman of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors. Lacy served a president of the Indianapolis Public Schools and is a past-chairman of the Indianapolis 500 Festival Association. He believes strongly in community service and holds board-level and leadership positions in a number of civic organizations, including the United Way, the Butler University Business Accelerator Advisory Panel, Indiana University Kelley School of Business Board of Visitors, Community Leaders Allied for Superior Schools, the Economic Club of Indianapolis, the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, Indianapolis Downtown, Inc., FBI Citizens' Academy Foundation, and the Indiana and Indianapolis Chambers of Commerce. Lacy is an alumnus of the Stanley K Lacy Leadership Series (SKL). He served as an SKL moderator for Class XV. In August 2005 Lacy was appointed by President George W. Bush to be a Member of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Advisory Committee on the Arts. Governor Mitch Daniels appointed Lacy as Chairman of the Indiana State Fair Commission in October 2009. Aside from his keen interest in LDI, Lacy flies his own turbo-jet plane over 200 hours per year. He has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, white-water rafted the Colorado and Snake Rivers, and enjoys golf, motorcycling, scuba diving, ocean sailing, flying, and many other outdoor and wilderness activities. Lacy and his wife, Julia, have three sons. Margot L. Eccles Margot Lacy Eccles directs Community and Shareholder Relations for LDI and is a member of the LDI Board of Directors. “Mrs. E” began her career in 1951 as the switchboard operator for U.S. Corrugated. She worked her way through a variety of positions and was promoted to lead community relations for the firm in 1983. Mrs. E is the granddaughter of the company's co-founder, Howard Lacy. Mrs. E attended Tufts University and is a graduate of the American Theater Wing of New York City. She also pursued advanced studies in France at the University of Paris (Sorbonne). Since 1976, Mrs. E has helped develop one of the nation’s most outstanding executive leadership programs: the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series (SKL). SKL raises awareness of community issues and promotes a sense of community stewardship through seminars, tours, reading, and interaction with experts, leaders, and decision-makers. Young professionals selected to participate in the program must have a sincere, demonstrated interested in the welfare of the community as well as the potential to influence positive change. Mrs. E’s personal commitment to central Indiana also can be seen in her leadership roles as Chair of The Lacy Foundation and as a member of the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, Franklin College Board of Trustees, Indiana Symphony Society, The Spirit & Place Advisory Board at The Polis Center, and the Urban Design Oversight Committee. She is Chair of the annual Indian Market & Festival at the Eiteljorg Museum and is also a member of the Heartland Film Festival Board of Governors, the Indiana Black Expo Cultural Gala Committee and the Race Relations Leadership Network Committee. She created and sponsors the annual "Young Playwrights in Process" program to encourage students from 6th-12th grade to write plays. Her prior leadership roles include affiliations with United Way, Junior Achievement, Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, 500 Festival Associates, Indiana Repertory Theater, Starlight Musicals, Indianapolis Parks Foundation, International Center of Indianapolis and Indianapolis Downtown,. Inc. Mrs. E and her late husband, Robert, have one grown daughter. Mrs. E is an enthusiastic patron of the arts. David N. Shane David serves as CEO and board member of LDI, managing the acquisitions strategy, civic and unitholder engagement, board activities and leadership development. David joined LDI in 1997 as Vice President and Corporate Counsel, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the legal field and a strong commitment to the city of Indianapolis. A graduate of Wabash College in 1970 and Duke University School of Law in 1975, David spent 20 years with the law firm of Baker and Daniels. In addition to law, David's other passion has always been education. In 2005 and 2006, David served as Indiana Governor Mitch Daniel’s Senior Policy Advisor for Education and Employment, working in the areas of workforce development, higher education and K-12 education. As a member of the Indiana State Board of Education, he continues to provide leadership to educational improvement efforts by advising various initiatives involving K-12 education, higher education and workforce and economic development. David is an active community member who holds civic leadership positions in several organizations. In addition to his membership on the Indiana State Board of Education, he serves on the board of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, as a trustee of Wabash College, on the Board of Advisors for the Center of Inquiry and Liberal Arts, the TechPoint Foundation, and education committees for both the Indiana and the Indianapolis Chambers of Commerce. J.A. Lacy serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of LDI, managing the daily operations of the holding company and working with the presidents and management teams of our business units to improve their operating performance and increase value for our owners.
A native of Indianapolis, J.A. has lived and worked in Chicago, Vancouver and Hong Kong. He previously served as President of FinishMaster, President of Tucker Rocky Canada and as Vice President of J. Walter Thompson. He is an avid runner and reader and enjoys volunteering at various local charities including serving as Chairman for the United Way’s Tocqueville Society and as a Director for the YMCA, Central Indiana Women’s Fund and United Way. J.A. also serves on the SKL Executive Leadership Services Advisory Board.
J.A. earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago in 1996 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame. He is married to Elizabeth, a corporate attorney in Indianapolis, and they have four children. Michael P. Hutson Mike joined LDI in 1996 as Corporate Controller and was named Chief Financial Officer in 1998. Mike began his career with Ernst and Young after graduating from Butler University in 1982. In his ten years at Ernst & Young, Mike progressed from staff accountant to senior manager responsible for the overall management of audit services for his clients. In 1992, Mike joined Freudenburg-NOK, a manufacturer of precision rubber components for the automotive industry. As Division Controller of the Rubber Products Division, Mike was responsible for the financial management of the company’s four Indiana plants. In 1995, Mike moved to Delco Remy America, a manufacturer of automotive starting motors and generators. As Director of Treasury, Tax and Financial Systems, Mike established initial accounting and treasury operations following the company's divestiture from General Motors though a leveraged buyout. In addition to being a CPA, Mike has an MBA from Butler University and is certified in Production and Inventory Management by the American Production and Inventory Control Society. He is also a member of Financial Executives International (current member of the National Private Company Committee and former Chapter board member and past President) and the board of Horizon Christian Fellowship Inc. D. Johnson
317.237.5400 Marc leads LDI’s acquisition activities and
joined the company in 1996 as Director of Treasury and
Investments. In 1998, he was promoted to Vice President –
Investments and Corporate Development. He has worked
on numerous transactions at LDI, including the purchase
of controlling interests in OIA Global Logistics and FinishMaster, a tender offer for shares of a
publicly-traded
competitor of FinishMaster and additional strategic acquisitions for
FinishMaster and Tucker Rocky. He also negotiated the sale of
Major Video Concepts in 2000, and directed an operational
restructuring and sale of Answer Products in 2004.
Marc began his career at National Westminster Bank in New York after graduating from Williams College in 1981. Marc earned an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 1986 and then joined GE Capital’s Corporate Finance Group. He later helped establish the Dallas office of Signal Capital's Merchant Banking Group - a provider of mezzanine loans and growth capital for middle market companies. In 1993, Marc joined Lucas McPhee, a private equity advisory firm created by partners from Bain & Company. In 1995, he was recruited by a rapid prototype company to serve as CFO. Marc and his wife, Janice, have three
grown children. He chairs the Investment Committee of the Indianapolis Symphony
Orchestra Foundation and serves on board of the Indiana Chapter
of the Association for Corporate Growth. He enjoys traveling
Ryan L.
Polk
Ryan joined LDI in 2011 to support its business units by confirming their strategic focus, ensuring the quality of their performance and increasing the speed of their organizational growth. He entered public accounting after graduating from Purdue University. He was then recruited into the consumer products industry where he held leadership roles in sales, logistics, information systems, business intelligence, strategic planning, investor relations, finance and accounting with companies ranging from local entrepreneurial enterprises to multi-national corporations. He is a CPA and has bachelor degrees in both accounting and industrial management. Ryan is active in promoting scholastic chess in Indiana and serving the Boy Scouts of America. His interests include reading, running and camping. He and his wife, Angela, have two sons.
Carol J. Hodes
Carol joined LDI in 2011 as Vice-President, Employee and Leadership Development. In this role, Carol's focus is on the process of orientation, training and development of the employees of our operating companies and on leadership development across all companies, including LDI. In addition, she works with Business Unit HR leadership concerning human resource policy and practice. Carol began her career at ATA, first as a Corporate Recruiter and then was promoted to an HR Generalist. Carol left ATA to join FinishMaster in 2001 and served as an HR Generalist, HR Director, and finally Vice President, Talent Management. In her last role, Carol had responsibility for the HR function, in support of over 1,500 associates in 28 states. Carol earned her BS in Organizational Leadership from Purdue University. In addition, she received her Professional Human Resources (PHR) certificate in 2001. She is a member of both the local and national chapters of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and is active in a local HR Leadership Forum Carol and her husband have two children. She is a volunteer for Dress for Success, in addition to volunteering at both her children's schools and their church. She enjoys travel and cheering on her Boilermakers. Gary
M. Bilsland Gary Bilsland joined LDI in 1998 as Treasurer and is responsible for LDI’s consolidated banking, cash management and risk management services. After earning a BS in Industrial Engineering and an MBA in finance, both from Purdue University, he joined General Motors as an engineer. Gary then transferred to General Motors’ EDS subsidiary where he became a Financial Controller. He left EDS to join Anacomp, Inc. as its Assistant Treasurer before joining LDI. Gary and his wife, Cathy, have two children. He enjoys cycling and reading about science and military history.
